PublicationsDirector: Sara Soreni
The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute publishes a wide range of books, anthologies, monographs, position papers and periodicals by distinguished scholars and public figures affiliated with the Institute. The publications – mostly in English and Hebrew – address the full spectrum of the Institute’s research, conferences and working groups, from issues of civil society and democracy to Jewish thought, Mediterranean interests and universal cultural and social topics.
Publications are often undertaken as a joint venture with leading publishing houses, broadening distribution to make a greater impact on public discourse about contemporary challenges. The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute is not a publishing house and does not accept manuscripts from outside sources. The manuscripts published by the Institute are all products of research at the Institute. All of the manuscripts are subjected to a rigorous evaluation process by internal and external lectors. The decision to publish any manuscript (either in-house or as a co-publication with another publisher) is made by the publications committee of the Institute, of which there are five members: Prof. Gabriel Motzkin (chairperson) Prof. Hannan Hever Prof. Menachem Lorberbaum Prof. Yehouda Shenhav Prof. Yfaat Weiss Ms. Sara Soreni (coordinator) The committee does not consider manuscripts which have not been submitted to it by the Publications Department of the Institute.
