Prof. Hilary Putnam was crucially influential in a variety of philosophical areas, including the philosophy of language, the philosophy of mind, and the philosophy of science. For many, his contributions in these areas determined the philosophical agenda. At the heart of his thought lies the question of truth and opposition to approaches that negate it. Putnam was interested in Jewish philosophy and expressed his warm feelings for Israel in his many visits, in teaching in Israeli universities, and in supervising students who teach in Israel today.
