About Education at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute

The Van Leer Jerusalem Institute has long been committed to fostering an egalitarian, high quality education system that promotes democratic values. The Institute’s activity in education focuses, inter alia, on developing study materials for teaching civics, formulating a core curriculum for all pupils, making higher education more accessible to the Arab population, fostering reading to preschoolers in the Arab population, analyzing the effects of privatization in the education system, learning how testing and evaluation can support better learning, and developing proposals for differential funding of education to compensate for socio-economic deprivation.

The Institute’s activity in education is conducted jointly with a variety of government and third sector groups, through study and research groups, workshops, conferences that are open to the public, and various publications, including books, study guides, position papers, and public discussion.
