The credit database program, approved this week by the Economic Committee before being passed as legislation, has sparked a heated public debate. "In no country in the world, except China, did the authorities act voluntarily as they have in Israel to create a national database of such ambitious scope and with such ambitious objectives of economic and social change," say researchers of the Chazan Center at the Van Leer Institute in a sharply-worded document they composed against the move.
