Director of the Economics and Society Program at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute, Professor Michel Strawczynski, presents the implications of this issue for Israel, which is in the midst of drafting the state budget for the next two years. Strawczynski: It is necessary to raise unemployment benefits and support for young people and for getting the poor into the workplace – all areas in which Israel is at the bottom of the chart by international comparison.
