As of October 2018 Dr. Assaf David is the head of Manarat: The Van Leer Center for Jewish-Arab Relations. He is also the co-founder and academic director of the Forum of Regional Thinking. Dr. David teaches at the Department of Political Science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In the past, he taught at the Department of History of the Middle East and the Department of Politics and Government at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
Dr. David wrote his PhD research under the supervision of Prof. Avraham Sela at the Department of Islam and Middle Eastern Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research focused on the military-civic relations in Jordan during the regimes of King Hussein and King Abdullah the Second. His research areas are Jordan, the relationships between the military and the civic society in the Middle East, public discourse in the Arab world, Israel's position in the Middle East, and the Middle East as a discipline in Israel.
