Ronna Brayer-Garb

Head of the Feminism and Gender area and director of documentary cinema projects

Ronna Brayer-Garb got her BA in political science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem where she also studied for her Masters degree. She completed her MA in gender and feminist theory at the New School for Social Research in New York, with an emphasis on feminist film theory. She has taught feminist theory and thought in several academic institutions, and she has written, edited, and translated feminist articles in various publications and platforms. At the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute she coordinated the advanced studies cluster, edited the books section of Theory and Criticism, and was the academic coordinator of WIPS—The Center for the Advancement of Women in the Public Sphere between 2009 and 2017. Currently, Ronna is heads the documentary cinema projects including The Incubator for Documentary Filmmakers, and heads the Gender and Feminism area at the Institute. She is the co-editor of the anthology titled Capitalism and Gender: Feminist Encounters with Market Culture, published in 2017 by the Van Leer Institute Press and Hakibbutz Hameuchad.
