Research and public engagement at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute currently take place in four thematic clusters: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanleer.org.il\/en\/topics\/%d7%a7%d7%93%d7%95%d7%a9%d7%94-%d7%93%d7%aa-%d7%95%d7%97%d7%99%d7%9c%d7%95%d7%9f\/\">Sacredness, Religion, and Secularization<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanleer.org.il\/en\/topics\/the-challenge-of-shared-life\/\">The Challenge of Shared Life<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanleer.org.il\/en\/topics\/science-technology-and-civilization\/\">Science, Technology, and Society<\/a>; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanleer.org.il\/en\/topics\/israel-in-the-middle-east\/\">Israel in the Middle East<\/a>. Alongside work in thematic clusters, the Institute fosters a large-scale project promoting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanleer.org.il\/en\/topics\/gender-and-feminism\/\">gender equality in Israel<\/a>. In all areas, work at the Institute seeks to break down some of the obstacles to social change by overcoming dichotomies that have become stifling, and offering new terms through which to think about contemporary issues. Our commitment to free and open inquiry is reflected in our maintaining a deeply diverse body of staff and researchers who model civil discourse even as they facilitate and engage in scholarship and relate it to civil society.
