The Index provides a detailed picture of the state of inequality in various areas of life \u2013 work, higher education, poverty, political and economic power, culture and communications, violence, division of time, health, center\u2013periphery relations, and Arab and Haredi societies \u2013 and each year new areas are added. The data provided by the Index enable it to serve as a guide for the country\u2019s policy-makers and government and public bodies. The Gender Index also provides women\u2019s organizations and other civil society groups with a platform for their activity toward changing gendered power relations and promoting gender justice in Israel.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The main innovations in the 2018 Index include the addition of a new domain of gender gaps in Haredi society, in pensions, in nominations of film directors to the Ophir Prize, and in the number of employees working more than 50 hours per week.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Gender Index in English can be downloaded in PDF form.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Gender Index of WIPS \u2013 the Center for the Advancement of Women in the Public Sphere at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute \u2013 is a powerful tool for monitoring changes over time in the status of women and men in Israel since 2004.
