The Index provides a detailed picture of the state of inequality in various areas of life\u2014work, education, poverty, political and economic power, culture, violence, division of time, health, center-periphery relations, Arab society, Ultra-Orthodox society, and age 65+\u2014and makes it possible to assign an overall score to gender inequality in Israel on the basis of the aggregate of the factors that determine the status of women in society.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><strong>What's new in the gender index for 2022?<\/strong> After two years in which the social and economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic were examined in a separate spotlight, the calculation of the results of the 2022 Index includes the data of the first year of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">The Index enables us to see how gender inequality is a deeply rooted feature of Israeli society, and therefore provides a vital tool for decision-makers in government and public institutions in their efforts to narrow gender gaps and to strengthen Israel's democratic foundations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">The Gender Index in English can be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanleer.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Gender-Index-2022.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">downloaded in PDF form<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the 10th publication of the Gender Index, an innovative and groundbreaking tool developed by\u00a0WIPS\u2014The Center for the Advancement of Women in the Public Sphere\u00a0at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute\u2014provides broad-ranging evaluation of the inequality between men and women in Israel over time.
