Dr. Ahuvia Goren published the article “I Too Speak the Words of God”: A Jewish Learned Woman Faces an Early Modern Rabbinic Court (Jewish Quarterly Review, 2025). The study examines a Jewish woman’s appropriation of Renaissance rhetorical strategies in her plea for justice before a rabbinic court. Through close analysis of a series of letters written by a seventeenth-century Jewish woman, the article explores Jewish women’s religious education in early modern Italy and the social and cultural tensions surrounding it.
