Dr. Adane Zawdu Gebyanesh (together with Dr. Gil Rotshild Elyassi, Haifa University) led the research group When the Local Looks Back at The Global: On Blackness, Identity, and Political Activism in the Ethiopian Community in Israel. The activity was facilitated in cooperation with The Challenge of Shared Life cluster at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute with Shaharit–Creating Common Cause
This cooperation resulted in the publication of a special issue Local Blackness of the journal Theory and Criticism, Van Leer Press, Volume 59.
