Monday ,5 March, 2012 to Tuesday ,6 March, 2012

The workshop consists of talks from philosophers and biologists in Israel and abroad. The goal of this workshop is to explore how mechanistic and population-based explanations are deployed throughout the life sciences. Some of the subjects are: the roles of abstraction and idealization, how biological mechanisms are represented, the relationship between populations and the individuals they are made up of and the role of mathematics in biology.
