Ofri is a historian, journalist and editor. His research deals with German history, history of ideas, history of sexuality and human-nature relations. Author of the books In Search of the Hebrew People: Bible and Nation in the German Enlightenment (Indiana University Press) and We are New People (Babel Publishing). Writes the weekly column "Under the Sun" at Haaretz newspaper.

Ofri was a fellow at the Polonsky Academy, and studies the history of homosexuality in Mandatory Palestine. At the Van Leer Institute he dealt with the Anthropocene era and the crisis of the humanities.
