Dr. Thair Abu Ras

Thair Abu Ras holds a PhD in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland in the US, specializing in political identities and political behaviors in the Middle East. His thesis addressed the political changes in the Arab parties during the political crisis in Israel in the years 2019–2022. During his studies Thair served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies at the University of Maryland, teaching courses on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, identities in Israel and the history of Jerusalem. Thair earned his MA in political science from the University of Houston in Texas (as a Fulbright scholar) and another MA in modern history of the Middle East from Haifa University, where he also earned his BA in political science. Before leaving to study in the US, Thair headed the “Fair Representation & Employment Equity” project at the Sikkyui-Aufoq organization, was an assistant to the representative of the EU delegation to Israel in the “twinning” project, and an assistant in the international advocacy department at Mossawa – The Advocacy Center for Arab Citizens in Israel, in Haifa.
