Yehouda Shenhav (Doctoral degree from Stanford University, 1985) is a Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at Tel Aviv University, Senior Editor for Organization Studies, and member of the scientific council of the Nantes Institute for Advanced Study, France. At the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute he directs the Forum of Arabic–Hebrew Translators and edits the Maktoob Book Series for Translations from Arabic. He is also the editor of the Theory and Criticism in Context series and a member of the Institute's Publications Committee. In the past he also served as Academic Director of the Advanced Studies unit (2005-2009), Editor of Theory & Criticism (1999-2009), and co-Director of the Forum on Israeli Culture and Society (1999-2002 and 2004-2006). Shenhav was Head of the Department of Sociology at Tel Aviv University (1995-1998), and taught at several universities in the United States, including Stanford University, Princeton University, Columbia University, University of Wisconsin–Madison, and the University of Iowa.
Shenhav has published numerous articles in the sociological literature on American management, American capitalism, social stratification, nationalism and ethnicity.
