Silvia Federici is one of the leading intellectuals of the Marxist feminist stream, and her studies combine historic research and political economics. The introduction to her article reviews the main elements of her thought: adding the gender and postcolonial lens to the core of Marxist analysis; expanding Marx’s concept of enclosure to the private household and to the colonies; posing concrete social demands, such as wages for housewives, as an instrument to thoroughly take down the capitalist system; and finally, offering alternatives to political-economic organization through the political act of demanding to reclaim the commons and creating new commons.
