A Discussion |
Dr. Assaf David, VLJI in conversation with Eran Etzion, former deputy head of Israel's National Security Council
The Israeli attack on Iran on the 61st day of negotiations between Iran and the United States regarding a nuclear agreement gave Israel a significant military and strategic advantage. The surprise attack changed the balance of power between the parties and thrust Iran into a difficult dilemma: how to maintain its vital interests, respond without escalating the situation to a full-scale regional war, and retain its resilience and image in the eyes of the Iranian people, the region, and the world.
In this talk we will focus on the options of the Iranian regime, the Israeli government, and the United States administration. We will ask how the Israeli attack affects Israel’s relations with the United States and the continuation of the negotiations, and what are Iran’s possible responses and their ramifications.
