David Graeber, who died suddenly in the beginning of September, was among the most fascinating pioneering new-left intellectuals of the past decade. An anthropologist and activist, he was also the author of change-inducing books including Bullshit Jobs: A Theory and Debt: The First 5,000 Years. In this discussion we will address a multitude of aspects of his life and work: his activism in the United States and the Middle East, his comprehensive anthropological work, his sharp criticism of capitalism and his identification as an anarchist, his revolutionary views on money and value, his attempt to propose a different ethical view of debt and work, and his unique and hope-inspiring approach to human history.
