The Maktoob Series turns a spotlight on living and breathing Arabic prose and poetry. It is the flagship of the Translators Forum, founded at the Institute. The aim of the project is to translate quality Arabic literature into Hebrew, so as to make it accessible to Hebrew-speaking readers. The forum consists of more than 100 members, men and women, Jews and Arabs, translators, editors, and literary scholars, who see their work as a formational act that uses words and at the same time also as a cultural and political act. As part of the project, a unique model is emerging of continuing work by Jews and Arabs with the aim of reconciliation between the languages.
Four books are published annually as part of the Maktoob Series.
