The group devoted its time to a new historical understanding of the Middle East through global systems of politics, economy, and culture, and challenged the paradigm of Western influence with a model of mutual influence. At the same time, the group members developed a curriculum for master’s degree students on the global Middle East, a curriculum they taught in 2019–2020 in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and at Tel Aviv University. In 2019  some group members participated in a workshop on the Global Middle East at Oxford, and their studies will appear in an issue of the Journal of Levantine Studies devoted to the subject, in Summer 2020.
