Ronna Brayer-Garb

Co-director of the Feminism and Gender area and director of documentary cinema projects

Ronna studied toward a BA and an MA in political science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She completed her MA in gender and feminist theory at the New School for Social Research in New York, with an emphasis on feminist research of cinema. She has taught feminist theory and thought at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and elsewhere, and she has written, edited, and translated feminist articles in various publications. At the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute she coordinated the advanced studies cluster, edited the books section of Theory and Criticism, and between 2009 and 2017 was the academic coordinator of WIPS—The Center for the Advancement of Women in the Public Sphere. Currently, Ronna is responsible, with Dr. Miri Rozmarin, for the area of Gender and Feminism at the Institute, and directs its documentary cinema projects. Ronna is the co-editor of the anthology titled Capitalism and Gender: Feminist Encounters with Market Culture, published in 2017 by the Van Leer Institute Press and Hakibbutz Hameuchad.
